Thats fast. My mid semester break is coming to a close. Oh oh. Did a little revision today. Got to work through all those tutorial questions again and again... need to get familiarised with the steps etc. Argh... So many things for my brain to remember. Must think of a way to memorise ;-)
Don't know why all of a sudden, i feel down again. sigh... down down down. Think i need a companion! MuahahhAHAH.

Keeping your cut fruit chilled is the key to keeping vitamin C levels high, according to a recent study. Food scientists from the University of California took pineapples, watermelons, rock melons, strwberries, mangoes and kiwifruit and divided them in half. They cut up the fruit and left the other half whole. Both lots were refrigerated for 9 days and were then tested for nuitritional content. Compared to whole fruit, the cut fruit revealed only small losses of antioxidant compounds. The message? Chill out.

Yet another fruitless day
Woke up at 10, had brunch, take a look at todayonline and enewpaper, and had to head to school for my team project 1. Time to meet is 2pm. Didn't touch the project for more than a week. Feels kinda wierd walking into the lab.
We were supposed to get 1 player mode starting. As usual, there're loads of bugs to debug. sigh... really an awful session.. Panic, panic. Just got back home at 11, had dinner, and wow! its almost saturday. Time never flew this fast!
Do you know?
Saying something someone doesn't want to hear is never easy, but these tips from The Mind Gym will help.
1. Set aside enough time and make sure you won't be interrupted - turn off your mobile at least.
2. Rehearse your opening line, but get to the point.
3. Consider how you frame the news: "For a man of your age, apart from high blood pressure, you're in good shape," sounds better than, "You have hypertension, which can lead to heart disease."
4. Know your facts and be prepared for questions.
5. Show you care but don't try to mind-read or say how uncomfortable you feel. Focus on them.

Loaded
Woo! got quite a few movies on hand, through means of my already very small social circle. Now I've got some entertainments during my many breaks from studying! Hehe... so fast... its already thursday... got to meet up with my project 1 team mates tomorrow. Hopefully all things go well tomorrow.
Went to city today. Treat it as a breather :). Had to buy some stuff for the project. Had lunch at a Japanese shop. Chicken Katsu Curry Rice. A$8.20. Portion was really huge, forgot to take picture of that, and it tastes surprisingly yummy, from a group of youngsters. Young as in below 30? Everyone was Japanese. From the 1 at the counter to the one preparing the food, to the 1 serving. And best of all, the girl behind the counter was very cute. :-p Haha.... ;-)
Do you know?
If men are bored in their free time, they should pick up a broom: they might just live longer. That's the word from a recent Victoria University study that analysed the leisure time of 200 men of all ages. While women tend to busy themselves with domestic chores in their downtime, men were sometimes bored or lonely during their free time, indulging in "meaningless activities" such as watching TV or computer games, which in turn could lead to an increase in health risks such as obesity, diabetes, due to comfort eating, smoking and drinking.

Concentrate!
Man do i need to concentrate! I am easily distracted by sounds, noise when I'm studying, starts feeling agitated, and i'll lose it. Now the trickling of raindrops onto some(i don't know what)thing is really getting on my nerves.
Time really flies, I will be 22 this year. wow. Thinking back on what I've achieved? Lets see my checklist: Pass PSLE - check. Pass O'Level - check. Got my diploma - check. Did i miss out anything???Urmm......mmmmm.......mmm... I don't know. No milestones, turning points or whatsoever. What do i set to achieve? Happiness for me, my family, friends and people around me? Thats how i interpret life.

The formula for staying together
Next time you have an argument with your partner and you can't reach an easy conclusion, agree to disagree and move on. Apparently you'll have a better chance of staying together in the long term. According to Sydney University mathematician Dr Clio Cresswell, couples who compromise the least usually stay together the longest. She says that a conversation between a couple will always be bursting with patterns, just like in mathematics. "Studying newlyweds' conversations revealed a similarity in the equations of the couples that were till together 6 years down the track." Mathematics is showing that those who stand their ground in those early disputes will have a better outcome.

Rock Bottom
Been feeling rather down these few days... morale low. Especially after 11pm. Everything seems to go wrong. WHAT HAPPENED!?!?! Life is full of ups and downs. Indeed! I need to get out of this really rough patch real quicky! Run! Run! Run! I can't run fast too... Hope there's a upward slope right up ahead! Don't want to carry on with this free-fall anymore..

High LDL cholesterol, high blood pressure, smoking and diabetes are all known to be risk factors for heart disease, but a study of 9000 Californians found that they also raised the risk of dementia - by 46% for diabetes, 42% for high cholesterol, 26% for smoking and 24% for hypertension. These are cumulative; if you've got all 4 then your risk is boosted by 237%

All things must come to an end
End.
What did i do today... hmm... i don't recall. Waiting for the day to end? and for monday to start. Had simple meals lately... I'm really tired of eating... Just want to be done with eating fast.
Do you know?
A study of men aged 50-85 in the US city of Boston found that those with more folate in their blood showed less decline in verbal fluency. Folate turns up leafy green vegetables such as spinach, Brussels sprouts and broccoli.

Almost there
I'm 50% done with my mid-semester take home maths exam. Looks certainly are deceiving. The lecturer certainly meant his words when he said he'll set this exam slightly harder. Got stuck with a couple of questions, will certainly get it done with soon.
My hair is growing longer and longer... fringe crossed my eyebrow already... longest ever since.... 2002? For the record, the longest i've kept my hair was when i'm in primary 6, where my fringe touched my nose... and that was like... 10 years ago. Wow! lets see if i can beat that record.
Do you know?

Yikes!
No worries, no worries. Got my take home mid-semester exam today! so nice... can do exam at home. But it ain't going to be easy mate! Got 5 different papers, and no one seems to have the identical one as mine... so sad :-( 15% mate. This mid-semester exam will be harder, therefore the finals will be much easier. Phew! Got 9 days to complete it, but i'll try to finish it as soon as possible, probably by tomorrow? I'll try my best!

Half Time
Yupz, half time break. Can afford to wake up late tomorrow, so i can work through the night! I'm getting sick of eating. Good news! ;-) I may in the future depend on fruits for my meals.
Read on http://www.todayonline.com that a coup happened in Thailand, and Thanksin had been overthrown, and it seems rather peaceful over there... sounds funny to me... Ain't there supposed to be some riots or what? Not that I wanted any, but weren't there any strong supporters of Thaksin? Maybe he's not that popular after all... May things be resolved soon over there.

Swimming is a good all-round exercise, and the support of the water reduces impact on joints. But exercise in cold water may not be ideal if you're trying to lose weight.
Researchers at the University of Florida asked subjects to exercise on a static bike underwater for 45 mins, 1st in water at 20C, then in water at 33C. They also spent 45 min resting. After each session, they spent an hour in a room full of food, without being told their kilojoule intake would be monitored.
After exercising in cold water, the subjects ate 44% more kilojoules than after the warm-water exercise, and 41% more than after just resting. It seems that body temp. affects post-exercise appetite, which may explain a previous study that found that women who swam lost less weight than those who ran or cycled.

Having a Kit-Kat
Haha... not really having a Kit-Kat, but i'm actually having a break. ;-) Got into a little recap of some basic mathematics: identities, double angle, compound angle formulae... and there's still lots more to go! need to get them all in mate!
Time certainly is moving real fast... and its seriously fast... next week is semester break but there's no time for fun :-( Got to prepare for 1 of my mid-semester test after this break, and a few weeks later, its gonna be the finals.

Relieved
No more staged meetings! I was the chairperson for today's last show. Got 42/50. hmm... how was that? thought i did quite badly though... :-p. So whats left now is my other modules. maths and electrical energy. Got to work real hard. Drive night car and burn more oil. Got to make full use of the 24hrs given mate!
Got a oral hygiene tip from my cousin who's working as a dentist's assistant. Besides coffee and tea that will stain the teeth, fizzy drinks causes staining too! so, its advisable to rinse your mouth after drinking, or refrain from having 1! The sugar present in the drinks are bad for the teeth as well, so friends out there who's reading this, take note. I'm currently staying away from them. :) cos they cost a bomb over here ;-p.

Waste of time
Today is really a waste of time. I mean what i did was. Had lecture at 12 (Okay), tutorial at 2 (Alright). but was in the project lab for about 3+ hours doing practically nothing. and thats a waste of my time! was waiting for my software programmer to smoothen tones for the buzzer.
In case you didn't know, team project 1 requires the team to build a replicator game, the game in singapore where there's this machine where there're 4 colours and sounds, which requires you to replicate what the machine displays. A memory game in short. but in this case, there's a 2 player mode, communicate by means of infrared.
Had a new game installed in my laptop! Football Manager 2000......6. Thanks to my friend Sean. haha.. So many shawn, shaun, sean in my life. No more solitaire. No more pinball. No more freecell.
Today marks the 1 year anniversary of my injured left index finger. Still can't bend it completely... and there's no improvement after seeing the army's Medical Officer (MO), polyclinic's GP, and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) sinseh... this will be a inner scar? This was what happened 1 year ago.....
"Sawadikap. Welcome to Thailand" YESSS!!! I'm in Thailand, not for holiday, but for a overseas army exercise. Well, 15 September 2005 was a thursday (Yes... i can still remember), bright sunny afternoon to be exact. We were having a game of soccer in the field in S*iy*k camp, together with the sergeants, sergeant major (csm) and the ociffers. I was the goalkeeper (i'm lazy to run around :-) ) The ball rolled to me, and what i had to do was just to pick it up... I had it safely in my hands... safely i thought... THEN. my csm went to kick the ball, with the ball in my hand... and you should know what happened. My index finger was swollen the very evening... so painful that i can't hold anything with it. I was on MC for the whole exercise. Siam a lot of "Sai Gang" (shit work). no need to dig shellscrape, no need to do stores. but i had to pay for with my poor index finger..
It has been a year since.... thanks you csm, thank you 30 SCE, thank you SAF, and last but not least, THANK YOU SINGAPORE! its a chain... ;-)

Bingo!
AC Milan and Man Utd did not disappoint me! Both sold their main strikers while the 2 strikers didn't even score for their new teams! Brilliant!
Bloody ankle still giving me problems... and i think i have problems with my knees too! I'm in serious trouble. Felt my knees and i think i'm moving my kneecaps left and right... is this abnormal or everyone's kneecaps moves this way too??
Vrroooom.... there're so many nissan skylines here that i lost count of them already. Why would anyone buy a proton? and zhng it? haha... there's one near where i'm living.

Ouch!
Many ouches; Barcelona won 5-0 (King of Euope!), Bayern Munich won 4-0 (who needs Ballack?), Liverpool drew 1-1 (Time to wake up from your dream!) Chelsea won 2-0 (You guys will be kicked out soon!). Tomorrow, more of my favourite teams are playing - AC Milan, Manchester United.
Besides those ouches, my right ankle has been giving me problems. Ouch! Recurring one since i don't know when. Can't place it flat on the ground, leaving all the work to the left. walking rather awkwardly, i think.
68 days on this Continent-island, I've not missed anything related to the little island in Asia, especially the food. Don't know why also. Maybe my adaptation level is good? I don't have 水土不符 problems. :-). Maybe it's my happy-go-lucky character that puts me into this advantage?

Is it me or is it...
something else that I'm feeling rather relaxed these few days? Lessons end in a breeze and time seems to fly past sort of quickly...
Spring is starting to be like winter... temperature is below 20 all day. Is this suppose to be the way its suppose to be? or is it because of global warming that leads to unnatural weather?
So many questions, but i don't know the answers to them. No 10-year series to refer to.

Monday's not blue
Who in the hell says that Monday is blue? Wore blue t-shirt, blue jeans and blue shoes though.. HAha. Its a wet monday. Temperature was 11-19, but against all odds, i wore a t-shirt! pretty cooling for me... maybe i had this extra 'protective' layer to keep me kinda warm. ;-)
Mr 'Crocodile Hunter''s memorial service will be held next wednesday in Brisbane. http://au.news.yahoo.com/060904/2/10ebw.html
Should i go? i don't even know him... haha, but its a once in a lifetime thing? Kaypoh ;-)
Seems like I've managed to transit from a rifle holding, jerry-can carrying engineer to a calculator holding 1. Though its kind of late, but sooner rather than later. May the force be with me!

Full Blast Ahead
Rested quite a lot today. Rested as in did not touch my notes. Went out to buy groceries. Chinatown a.k.a Fortitude Valley. Had a little walk, there's not much to walk either.
Bought lots of meat. 1kg of pork shoulder and 2 kg of chicken drumstick. Enough to last me some time. Bought a bottle of 'Char Siew Sauce', so that i can make my own 'char siew' ;-), and a can of ''Yeo's'' wintermelon drink. Felt like in singapore ;-). Didn't have any can drinks since i left Singapore.
Had a bad experience with the butcher though... a Hongki. :( Was so polite to this ang mo before me...knn. When i wanted to buy some, it seems like i'm invisible to him... WTF?!
Back to studies, topped up my gas tank, hope it'll be more than enough to last me for next week!

Another day wasted
At home for the last urm... 30 odd hours? furthest i've gone is the kitchen. Haha... and i'm not a bit bored! incredible! managed to pull myself out of bed at 9.15. I kept my blinds opened so that i won't assume that it's still dark outside when the sun is already up and shining at around 6. Woke up about 7+ actually, but haha... i shall not say anymore.
1st take home exam, I've to collect it during tutorial on the 22nd, and hand it in before the 2nd Oct. got a cool 10 days to do it, and its worth 15%. Its a gift! die die must get it in my pocket.
Revise and revise, do my best and i'll be out of here in a flash!

Slacking off
Hmm... yea mate! end of week 7. timetable starts to slacken as 1 module has already been completed, which means i've got only 1 lecture which starts at 12pm and 1 tutorial right after that. thats the way University life should be?
Life over here is boring (for me) over here, but i kinda like the peace and quiet. Its relaxing! surrounding is quiet, even in the day, except for a kid who plays the trombone living above me, but he limits it to an hour or so.
September already, and i'm halfway though my 1st semester over here in UQ. semester ends in mid-november. Will certainly look forward to that 3 months of holiday. Gonna spend time travelling around the areas. and learn MORE about the aussie way of life. May eventually apply for PR?
Think i'm thinking about the future too soon. Studies comes 1st.

Cold Cold Thursday
Yes! winter has ended, but today, don't know what happened, the wind was strong? NO! very strong the whole day. Actually, i think the very strong winds starting last night. I was deep asleep when i was awaken by the ruffling of the leaves, thought it was raining, woke up to close the window, and went back to sleep. It didn't rain after all. The wind was so strong that it almost swept me off the ground. Keyword is me :)

Merdeka!
Well, Singapore separated from Malaysia in 1965. I've got separated in 2006. No more sharing of groceries. Everyone shall have an individual compartment in the fridge, as well as in the cupboard. Will I grow to be as 'prosperous' as Singapore?
"There was a time, when people said that I~i~i won't make it, i think i'll make it"
1st dinner after the separation, i had...
Spaghetti in Carbonara sauce saute with garlic, fresh mushroom and mixed vegetables, accompanied by 2 pieces of succulent chicken thigh and wing. The meal ended concluded with a sweet, crunchy, juicy apple. Yum yum...
Haha... whole load of crap... but it was simply 'squisito'. REALLY!!!
Off to continue with my revision... whole lot of them. ciao

Tire, Tiring, Tired
Well... i'm tired... slept in 3.30 am this morning and woke up at 8 ... gave up on fixing problems on the PCB. I can't fixed them! staring at the screen for 6 hours trying to figure out what's wrong. missed the crucial 2nd batch of PCB fabrication. damn! have to wait 2 weeks later for the 3rd batch. Damn!
Think i'm speaking more like an aussie nowadays. Usually like in Singapore, when someone say thank you, i'll say welcome or no problem. but here, i'm saying no worries, just like the aussies... oh no...

Single player mode
I think i'm a loner. I prefer doing things alone, going out alone. Am i such a loner or is that i've yet to meet anyone that has the same projectile as me? Its troublesome going out in large groups! everyone wants different directions. Wait here wait there, might as well wait until Christmas?
Today is saturday :-). Its 'riverfestival' or what the locals call 'riverfire'. An annual event aims to create awareness of the river, providing entertainment and events for the general public. Well, its fondly called 'riverfire' cos there's fireworks (again) cheorographed together with exlusive Riverfire soudtrack played over the local radio station.
The fireworks kicked and ended off with the crowd favourite - 2 RAAF F-111 strike jet sweeping low over the city, reaching speed of up to 800kph before performing the 'dump and burn' display.
Was in the city actually around 3 to buy some stuff for my project. The fireworks starts at 7pm sharp. thought i could get a good view of the fireworks. instead, had to wait for some friends. missed the airshow that was going on around 5. after that, they went for dinner! i had mine around 4. lunch + dinner to be exact. well... dinner lasted till 6.30... and the fireworks start at 7! where got good view?
The place surrounding South Bank, where the good spots are, is completely FULL! and i mean FULL!! was rather pissed off... was sitting there for hours doing nothing, waiting for this, waiting for that... knn...
When the fighter jets flew passed, i was anxiously waiting for the fireworks to 'fly' high up into the sky, with my digicam in hand, ready to snap. but to my dismay, it started off with some low ones from boats on the river. Argh!!! CAN"T SEE!!! where? where? wanted to say "see my a**"
The fireworks lasted for a good 1/2 hour. Was walking around the area (alone), trying to find a good place to take photos... managed to take some though, but missed most of it :-[
Well, i'll make sure i'll get a good view next year! and i mean I.

Wah! Sibei Suay
!#$#@^ Kena caught in the rain again! The day started off brightly! Sun was burning with vengence, but it finally lost its battle when the rain started taking over at around 4 and starting pouring when i'm leaving school for home at around 8pm. Whats with the weather?
Pretty delighted with myself today. Know what's happening in tutorial, and there's no more lecture for Maths2010 (Calculas). Hurray! its a half semester subject, so no more waking up early in the morning!
Got a little more improvement for my team project today. The infrared is working and whats left is the PCB (Printed Circuit Design), casing and getting the IR to transmit at least a meter.
Week 6 has finally ended smoothly to my delight, looks like there's sunshine after a thunderstorm, or is it only the eye of the storm? May the force be with me.
