Haha... what a title to begin my new look blog!
I'd a few nicknames in my short short 22+ years living. The 1st 1 that I could remember was in primary 3/4. I was called "铁皮人". Its because of my dry skin... Hahaa... But I kind of like this teacher. Teach chinese. Tell a lot of stories. Makes chinese learning interesting.
The 2nd one was "Golden Boy". Not because I'm special or what. Just that I don't like to talk. Forgot who gave it to me, but it was someone from band.
The 3rd one came quite a long time from the last 1. During my days as a chao recruit in Tekong. My profile super low ok... i think... it was given to me by my section mates. "小华"。 Sounds ... ... ... But luckily it lasted for about 16 weeks?
The last 1 lasted for 2 years... and counting.... This 1 was rather stupid. The story behind it was also dumb... Just because this section commander of mine find it hard to pronounce my name... And so, I was 'bestowed' the nickname "Kilo". And the story goes like this...
It was my 1st day in 30 SCE. A culture shock from Tekong. We were allocated our beds and section, then this sergeant came in and see if things were going fine. (Actually, we were preparing for stand-by bed. A welcome inspection) As my bed was just beside the door, he came to ask for my name.
Sgt: (See my name tag) Whats your name?
Me: Private Ling Ei Hua, sergeant.
Sgt: Huh? (He's not chinese)
Me: Private Ling Ei Hua, sergeant.
Sgt: Which Company you from?
Me: Kilo
Sgt: Oh Kilo! I last time also from Kilo. I call you Kilo from now on.
Me: ???????????????????
Since that day, my profile rocketed... Wah lao eh... I want to keep low profile leh... sergeants/officers from other company also know me... cham la.... Other one while in army was "Pui eh" (Fat One in hokkien) I fat meh?
